A group for avid DIYers and Amateur design enthusiasts! Formerly facilitated by professional interior designer Rebecca West; new organizer Jody Hurd. We meet at local furniture stores, art galleries, paint stores etc to discuss the latest trends, learn what works and doesn't work in design, get inspired for our own projects, and have fun window shopping! Bring along your photos and projects and let us brainstorm solutions and celebrate your completed projects. Occasionally we'll have classes on …
Meet other local people who support Permaculture design for sustainable human existence.
Whether you're an industry professional or merely an enthusiast of Architecture, members are notified of events for all interests. Our event schedule consists of events hosted by other organizations. Our Meetup group is not affiliated with any of them. Events include Architectural model exhibits, lectures, open houses, and walking tours of local Architecture. I welcome you to post event suggestions--especially if they're unique, free, and can be organized by our membership. We're always looking …
Hello and Welcome! Lets get together in homes and community spaces to get work done while getting to know one another. I'm thinking of blackberry harvesting, pickling, sewing/quilting, mending, holiday crafts, window washing, gardening, and painting. I'm also thinking of singing and games and potluck meals. You should join this group if you think a home is more than just a house that is ready for a Martha Stewart photo shoot. You should join this group if you want to work toward creating a world …
Want to live with others that share your interests instead of just renting out a room from someone? I'm looking to form an urban co-op house in North Seattle. Seeking others and a place for rent to call home. The foundation of this co-op home is community as well as sustainable living. Hence it is geared for those that would consider community gardens, sharing resources, and pitching in to the general upkeep of the property. Does that sound like you? --------------------------- …
Community Orchard of West Seattle (COWS) provides a home-scale model that demonstrates how much food can be grown on a city-sized lot. Our produce goes to our volunteers, neighbors and local food security programs while we provide a venue for public agricultural education and community gathering. Using permaculture and organic growing principles, COWS demonstrates several different kinds of non-standard orchard techniques and garden configurations - most of which are based on no-till, polycultur …
Let's get together and teach each other to grow our own vegi's, plant fruit trees, raise chickens, make beer, make biodiesel, retrofit our houses for alternative energy. Or we can just swap seeds and can our extra tomatoes. You can do it because you love to garden, or because you want to survive the zombie apocalypse. Either way, if you're making your city home a little more self sufficient, then this group's for you.

Art in its myriad forms, is our foundation and touchstone. We're aware that function does not exclude beauty; and we can see the beauty in function. We know or hope to learn …
Having begun work as an herbal educator back in 1977, I would like to share casual information about herbalism, including growing herbs. We have an on-site research library and a 45,000 square foot botanical garden. My book The Master Book of Herbalism has been selling strong since it came into print in 1984. I have an excellent Master Herbalist Program which attracts top students (including Registered Nurses). I represent a wealth of resources. When teaching at Seattle Central I'm able to show …
